Description


A scarce 1922 Turkish issue map of Istanbul or Constantinople, Turkey, issued by the Société Anonyme Ottomane D'Études et D'Enterprises Urbaines. The map covers the Fatih or Sultanahmet districts commonly known as the 'Golden Horn.' Detail to the street level with individual buildings of note demarcated. Also notes principal ferry lines, rail lines, parks and city walls. Tables surrounding the map proper provide greater details and a key to the city's streets and important buildings.

This map was part of a three-part set. Part 2 covers Skutari, and part 3 details Pera-Galata. Only part one is currently offered. The map was printed by Guédik-Pacha, Rue Théatre No. 25, Istanbul.

Condition


Good. Backed on archival tissue. Some discoloration, wear, and verso reinforcement along original fold lines. A few old pen marks associated with an unknown traveler.
