1945 Post World War II Lee Kerry Pictorial Map of London, England

An enormous and remarkable Lee Kerry pictorial map of London drawn to celebrate the rebuilding of that city following the destruction of World War II. The map honors the British fighting spirit with Winston Churchill's works, set in a banner located in the upper right, 'We would rather see London in ruins and ashes than that it should be tamely and abjectly enslaved.' Kerry focuses on that part of London between Kensington and Tower Bridge. Important monuments and parts are illustrated pictorially and identified with bold banner text. Additional vignettes surrounded the map as a whole. This map was drawn by Lee Kerry and printed by Chromoworks Limited, and published by the Travel Association of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Several editions appeared between 1945 and 1948 - this is the first and largest edition.
