Matteo Florimi (c. 1540-1615) was an Italian printer, book dealer and publisher. He was born in Calabria to a family of copper engravers, and likely was a practitioner of that art himself. He moved in 1581 to Siena where he set up shop. His first independent work was recorded 1589; in 1591 he published a book of lace patterns in Venice; a second edition of that work appeared in Siena in 1593. He is best known for his having published a large number of maps and prints, many of the latter on religious themes. His work, due both to its characteristics and its rarity, is typically classified among the maps of the Lafreri 'school.' He ran afoul of Magini, who would sue him for plagiarizing his map of the Dominion of Florence.
