Government-General of Chōsen (朝鮮總督府; 1910 - 1945) was the Japanese colonial government established to govern the former Joseon Empire, which was dissolved in 1910. It replaced the office of Japan's Resident General, which had effectively ruled Korea as a protectorate from 1905 - 1910. The Government-General resided, from 1926, in a grand headquarters that was constructed as part of a redesign of Seoul (Keijo). The building was demolished in 1995.
