John Henry Moor (December 29, 1802 - May 1, 1843) was a Singapore based publisher and newspaperman active in the early 19th century. Moor was born in Macau. He settled in Singapore in 1830, where in 1831 he became editor of the Singapore Chronicle. one of Singapore's first papers. From 1835, he was also editor of the Singapore Free Press. More became the headmaster of the Raffles Institution (shown here as the Singapore Institution), one of Singapore's first schools. Moor went on to establish Singapore's first free library, an institution that evolved into the National Library of Singapore.
