About Our Digital Scans
Geographicus maintains an archive of high-resolution map scans at 300–600 DPI (TIFF or JPEG). In most cases these are suitable for enlargement and printing — and our newer 600 DPI scans are exceptional quality.
Delivery
Once you complete your purchase, a download link arrives by email — usually within seconds. Files are delivered as ZIP archives, which any modern computer can unpack. Some files are large and may take a few minutes to download. All delivery is electronic; no physical product is shipped.
Use & Copyright
Use your digital image any way you like! Our scans are unrestricted by copyright and may be used, modified, and published freely. We put significant care into scanning and editing each map, so a credit is always appreciated when possible: Courtesy of Geographicus Rare Antique Maps (geographicus.com).
Print Size
At 300 DPI you can roughly double the original dimensions without noticeable quality loss — so a 10×12 inch map prints cleanly at 20×24 inches. Our 600 DPI scans give you even more room to work with. That said, no scan will take a small map to wall size without some loss — if you have large-format needs, a reprographics specialist can advise you.
Refunds
If the image you ordered turns out to be unavailable, we'll issue a full refund — no questions asked. Otherwise, since digital scans are delivered electronically, they can't be returned or refunded once the download link has been used.
