Who knew mountain goats could take photos!

This is a 1948 Stluka pictorial map of Glacier National Park, in Montana, was created for the Great Northern Railway. Unlike other western railroads that merely served parks, the Great Northern actively developed Glacier as a destination to generate passenger traffic on its northern transcontinental route.
A Closer Look
Coverage embraces only that part of Glacier National Park that lies in Montana - largely sidelining the Canadian partner park, Waterton Lakes. The Great Northern Railway and the Glacier Park Station appear in the lower-right, emphasizing the railroad's easy access to the park. Lakes and mountains fill the sheet, with peaks and glaciers identified. Illustrated hotels and chalets are numerically keyed to an index in the upper left. Buses are illustrated ferrying visitors from the train station to their accommodations, while other adventurers climb, hike, fish, and ride horseback amidst Glacier's iconic wildlife: bears, bighorn sheep, and mountain goats. The Prince of Wales Hotel appears in the upper right just over the US-Canada border. A gigantic mountain goat, the mascot of the Great Northern Railway, stands atop Heaven's Peak looking through the viewfinder of a camera. The Great Northern Railway logo occupies the bottom-right corner.
Glacier National Park
Glacier National Park, established May 11, 1910, is an American national park in northwestern Montana on the U.S.-Canada border. Encompassing over one million acres, Glacier National Park includes part of two sub-ranges of the Rocky Mountains and is home to hundreds of species of animals. 130 named lakes are within the park's borders. The park also borders Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada, leading to the establishment of the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park in 1932. The Peace Park was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995.
