Relief Model of United States.
1911 (dated) 6 x 4.5 in (15.24 x 11.43 cm)
1 : 36000000
This is an unusual 1911 embossed relief map of the United States issued by the Denoyer-Geppert Company. It covers the entire country including parts of Canada and Mexico. State boundaries are noted. The map also notes several important cities, rivers, lakes and other geographical details. Relief is printed into the paper itself, giving the map an embossed look and feel and enabling it to be used as a ‘visual aid to instruction’. The map is surrounded by an embossed border with text.
Verso of the map includes information of the relief models – a new, physical colored edition of actually raised maps. These sort of maps, miniature versions of a larger relief map (47 x 34 inches in this case), were used by salesmen selling the large models.
This map was issued by the Denoyer-Geppert Company in Chicago, Illinois.
Very good. Minor spotting.
