Le Bourguignon-Duperré, Cyprien-Gabriel

Cyprien-Gabriel Le Bourguignon-Duperré (17??-18??) was a French hydrographer and naval officer, active between 1824 and 1850. Despite his having been named Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur, nothing is known of his life, apart from the evidence supplied by his charts. He was credited on an array of these, published by the Depot de la Marine, including two navigational atlases: his Atlas des côtes de la Martinique (c. 1831) and his Atlas des côtes de France, published in 1850. The dates on his charts suggest that his early naval career had sent him to the West Indies, as his charts from that part of the world appear to be based on surveys performed between 1824 and 1831. His charts of France appear to have been based on surveys performed between 1839 and 1844; he is credited on an array of Italian and Spanish coastal charts based on surveys performed between 1846 and 1849.
