Holt, Renfrew, and Company, Limited (1837 - present) is a chain of high-end department stores in Canada that is often compared to Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Barney's. Originally founded as a fur shop in Quebec City in 1837, the firm was once the 'Furriers in Ordinary' to Queen Victoria. The firm continued to garner the favor of the British Royal Family and received appointments as the furrier to Her Majesty Queen Alexandra, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, His Majesty King George V, and King Edward VIII. Today, Holt Renfrew operates nine stores located in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver.
