Clarence Pearson Hornung (June 12, 1899 - January 2, 1997) was and American industrial and trademark illustrator and graphic designer. Hornung studied at City College of New York, New York University, and Cooper Union Art School in New York City. Hornung is remembered for his classic work Handbook of Designs and Devices, first published in 1932, and as a designer for the American Type Founders. Hornung also designed book bindings for Harper's, Encyclopædia Britannica, and the Museum of Modern Art, among other clients. Numerous famous mid-20th century trademarks either drew on his work or were designed by Hornung himself.
