John Kilbourne (1787 - 18??) was an Ohio based map publisher active in the first half of the 19th century. Kilbourne was born in Connecticut and studied at Vermont University. He moved to Ohio, joining his uncle Colonel James Kilbourne in Worthington, a town he laid out in 1804. He taught Geography and Mathematics at the Worthington Academy, where he published several geographical works for school children. Around 1815 he opened a bookstore near the statehouse in Columbus, Ohio. From this location his published his famous Gazetteer of Ohio, a map of Columbus, and a definitive 1821 large-format map of Ohio.
