Melchert, Federico L. (fl. c. 1875 - 1878)

Federico L. Melchert (fl. c. 1875 – 1878) was a German-born Argentinian military engineer in the Office of Military Engineers (Oficina de Ingenieros Militares). He participated in several military expeditions to the Pampas, taking advantage of them to gather geographical information, taking notes about the roads traveled and the places visited, allowing him to produce an important map about the region in 1875. He also published a book in 1875 titled Ueber den Krieg mit den Indianern und die Vertheidigung der Grenze in der Pampa discussing the government's conflict with the indigenous people in the region.
