1925 Map of the Seine River, France
|
Description: A beautiful 1925 edition of the Map of the Seine River from Paris to the Sea by R. Vuillaume. This pocket map charts the course of the Seine River and beautifully depicts the forests, marshes and towns along the river. The map includes two sectional views of the river with elevation. A note on the map says ‘the area between Paris and Rouen is the reduction in 10 of the large map of the Seine and the same author was honored with a silver medal at the exhibition of 1889 and 1900’.
The river Seine has been an inspiration to various artists in the 19th and 20th century. Napoleon, in his will, wished to be buried along the banks of the river. In 1924, the Seine River hosted the rowing event of the 1924 Summer Olympics. Blank on verso, this map was made by R. Vuillaume.
