A Closer Look

Promoting both the University of Michigan and local Ann Arbor businesses, Michigan Stadium, nicknamed 'The Big House' immediately draws the viewer's attention at bottom center. Crisler Arena appears just to its right. Apart from Michigan Stadium, the University Club and the Law Quadrangle also appear, as do a handful of appear in downtown Ann Arbor while the University of Michigan's campus occupies the upper right and space along the right border. Ann Arbor's many restaurants, hotels, banks, and bars are identified by name, as are the Chamber of Commerce and the Post Office. Short captions in cursive provide some historic details, such as detail that the historic firehouse was built in 1882, or that the University President's House was built in 1840. The city airport is situated at bottom left. A visual history of University of Michigan football occupies the verso.
