Description

This is a c. 1968 Harry Gage map of Annisquam, Massachusetts. The map depicts this neighborhood of Gloucester, Massachusetts from the Annisquam Yacht Club to Diamond Cove and from the Annisquam River and Ipswich Bay to Ouarry Street, Washington Street, Saville Lane, and Dennison Street. Numerous locations within Annisquam are labeled, including the historical society, Adams Hill, Mt. Adnah Cemetary, and the Annisquam Yacht Club. A note informing the viewer that the Annisquam Bridge has been closed to all vehicular traffic acts as both an informative piece of information and allows for an approximate date. The bridge was closed to vehicular traffic in 1968, which means that this map must come sometime after that event.

This charming map is a very rare example of a depiction of this region and we have been unable to locate other examples. The cartography was produced by Harry Gage based on data supplied by the Engineering Department of the City of Gloucester.
