1871 Sikkel Manuscript Map of Asia

This is an unusual and beautiful manuscript map of the Asia dating to 1871 drawn by J.C. Sikkel. The entire continent from Siberia to New guinea and is hand-drawn in outstanding detail. The geography follows the conventions of the period with Individual regions identified and color coded to represent British, French, Portuguese, Spanish or Dutch possessions. Rivers and mountains are noted throughout. The northern portions of Asia including most of Russia and China are relatively unmapped. Features wonderful and whimsical overall presentation with title pasted on the sheet. This map was drawn in 1871 by J.C. Sikkel as part of Der Atlas Geheele Aarde.
