This is a c. 1920 manuscript map of the western front during World War I (WWI) written entirely in Bulgarian. The events depicted here took place in August and September 1914, per the key. The black arrows indicate the German army's many advances, while the green arrows and bars mark French and British defenses and counterattacks. One such arrow defends Paris from the northwest, illustrating the Battle of the Marne. Several other cities are labeled as well, including Reims, Brussels, and The Hague. A purple line marks the furthest point of German advancement in France before being pushed back by British and French forces.
