A rare 1941 thematic map of Maryland illustrating equestrian activity in the state. This map was issued by the Maryland Horse Breeders Association in Townson, Maryland. The map covers the entire state in some detail with insets of Baltimore County and western Maryland. A legend in the upper left corner acts as a key to identifying the horse icons scattered throughout the map. Thoroughbred farms, draft horse farms, race frames, race courses, shows, tournaments, saddle horse farms, and hunt clubs are all identified. The title appears in an elaborate equestrian themed cartouche in the lower left quadrant.
This map is quite rare. We have only been able to identify one other example in the Maryland Historical Society. This map is not referenced in the OCLC.
Very good. Backed on archival tissue.
