Description
This is a set of three pages from a stunning 18th century manuscript treatise on navigation. The treatise, the Introdusione alla sfera e alla Geografia Moderna alas, is incomplete. One definition from Section I is included at the top of the first page of the set, Definition 40: River. The rest of the three pages is text from Section II entitled che contiene moltipiacevoli Problemi Astronomici (which contains many astronomical problems). All text is in Italian and is on both recto and verso. Of the three pages, which have text on both recto and verso, the only one containing diagrams is pictured. We have provided a date of 1720, but this is merely conjecture. Based upon the paper and style, it is reasonable to assume this was drawn between 1650 and 1790.
Condition
Good. Water stains upper left. Italian manuscript text on recto and verso.
