Unique and attractive 'Chart of the World on Mercator's Projection' with two insets of the world in hemispheres. A fascinating glimpse of what the world looked like at the moment of the U.S.'s centennial, to a presumably well-off, well-educated Bergen County Atlas owner. Drawn by H.H. Lloyd & Co. N.Y., published as plates 6 & 7 on facing pages in Walker & Pease' exquisite 'topographical, illustrated, historical, descriptive' Atlas of Bergen County, New Jersey, 1876. With the atlas' preface page (plate 5) and a beautiful map of 'Oceanica' or Australia and the South Pacific (plate 8) on verso.
