Description

This is a 1924 Fei-Shi city map or plan of Beijing / Peking, China. The map depicts the city in great detail, numerically identifying over 210 locations throughout the city. The Tartar City, Chinese City, Legation Quarter, Imperial City, and Forbidden City are each labeled and shaded different colors, allowing for easy differentiation between the different parts of the city. On the map itself, several locations are identified by name, such as the Presidential Palace Grounds and the Coal Hill in the Imperial City, along with the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the Temple of Agriculture, and the Temple of Heaven in the Chinese City. Within the Legation Quarter, the British, Italian, Austrian, German, French, Russian, American, and Dutch sections are labeled, as well as several others. Each of the different sections of the city are walled, with each of the gates depicted, all of which are labeled, either directly on the map or alphabetically, with the names listed below the city plan. The index of the Sights and Places of Interest numerically identified on the map is situated below the Main Gates index, while the index of street names is located on the verso. Each location is identified both by Chinese characters and its English translation.

This map was produced for Fei-Shi's Guide to Peking and its Environs and published in 1924.
