A scarce page from Hartmann Schedel's 1493 Liber Chronicarum illustrating several imaginary Hungarian towns in a idealized countryside. The Liber Chronicarum or, as it is more commonly known, the Nuremberg Chronicle is alavishly illustrated world history written from a Biblical perspective. The Chronicle featured an unprecedented 1,809 woodcut engravings by the German painter and printmaker Michael Wolgemut. Scholars suggest that only about 400 examples of the Latin edition off the Chronicle have survived.
