Description


This is an unusual 1888 braille map of North America by Martin Kunz. The map covers the entire continent of North America from the Arctic Circle to Panama. This map, in braille, features boundaries, rivers, mountains and an assortment of other topographical details. Rivers are shown with slightly raised lines, while boundaries are shown with raised dots. Mountains are slightly raised and latitude and longitude are depicted in raised lines with braille numbers along the margin of the map. The title is shown in braille. The name of the publisher and place are included in the bottom margin in raised print. This map was issued in 1888 by Martin Kunz, who at the time was the director of the Blind Institute of Illzach, Germany.
