Description

This is a c. 1930 San Francisco Convention and Tourist League city map or plan of San Francisco, California, also presenting some elements of a view. The map depicts the city of San Francisco from San Francisco Bay to Golden Gate Park the Pacific Ocean and from the Embarcadero and Presidio U.S. Military Reservation to Lake Merced and San Bruno Mountain. Numerous neighborhoods are labeled, along with myriad streets. Thirty-two locations are numerically identified, with a table of references situated in the lower right corner allowing for easy recognition. Two different drives, a 25-mile 'Wonder' drive, and a 100-mile 'Wonder Peninsula' drive are detailed in the lower left corner, and the route of each of the drives is traced on the map. Several different parks and squares are depicted in green, with numerous locations labeled within Golden Gate Park.

On the verso, a detailed map of Golden Gate Park adorns the entire top third. Below, a map of the location of the 42 principal hotels in the city, along with a table listing their names and addresses, is situated to the left. On the right, lists of municipal lines, street car lines, unnumbered lines, and cable lines are included. A map of the scenic attractions around San Francisco is located along the right border.

This c. 1930 map was compiled and distributed by The San Francisco Convention and Tourist League.
