1893 Ottoman-Turkish Map of the West Indies

This is an 1893 Ottoman-Turkish map of the West Indies. Centered on the Antilles, the map depicts from the Yucatan Peninsula to Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela and from southern Florida to Colombia and Venezuela. Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica occupy the center of the map, followed by Puerto Rico and the rest of the Antilles. The Central American countries of Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama are depicted. The Bahamas are presented in detail. The Florida coast as well as the Florida Keys are depicted in detail. The detail of all of the coastlines is quite impressive allowing the viewer to believe that they are receiving a much more precise depiction of the region.
