This is a whimsical 1937 map of the British Isles issued by the National Geographic Society. Covers England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland in incredible detail, noting cities, towns, roads, railways, districts, rives, lakes, and a host of other topographical features throughout. The whole is surrounded by a pictorial border featuring illustrations of historical figures, sports, and places of interest throughout the Isles. Coats of arms of Belfast, London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Dublin, as well as four vignettes representing Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland.
Ships are seen sailing in the surrounding waters. Beautiful title cartouche features the coat of arms of Great Britain and the busts of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to commemorate their coronation on May 12, 1937.
