  1900 (undated)     21.5 x 13 in (54.61 x 33.02 cm)

Description

An absolutely charming 1900 guide map of New York City, showing 'From the Latest Surveys showing all the Ferries and Steamship Docks, elevated, electric and Cross Town Car Lines,' as well as 'Grand Central Depot.' On verso are notes on NYC tourism and history, with the lion's share of space devoted to a fascinating section on 'The Great Hotels of New York,' which actually focuses on one hotel, namely, the map publisher, 'Compliments of the Broadway Central Hotel,' located at Broadway and Bond. We are told that the hotel is not only the grandest hotel in the city, both quiet AND centrally located, (unlike those lesser hotels that are moving uptown), they offer the now surrealistically low rate of $1 a night. The map was 'executed' by Brooks Bank Note Co., a Boston lithography firm.

Condition

Very good. Verso repairs on original fold lines.
