Description

This is a fine 1957 U.S. Army Air Forces aeronautical chart or map of northeastern Sudan and southeastern Egypt focusing on the Nubian Desert region. It covers from Cape Ras Banas south as far as Koka in Sudan. The Gebel Elba region is also included. Between 1899 and 1956, Sudan was a condominium of Egypt and the United Kingdom known as Anglo-Egyptian Sudan. This map, first issued in 1944, identifies Anglo-Egyptian Sudan in the title and along the territorial boundary. Since the map was revised in 1957, a year after Abrogation of the condominium has the words 'Anglo-Egyptian' scratched out. Verso of this chart features legends and a world aeronautical chart index. This chart was published by the Aeronautical Chart Service, U.S. Army Air Forces, Washington D.C., and was issued as chart no. 567. First issued in 1944, this is the fourth edition revised to Jan 1957.
