A scarce c. 1930 art Deco Era panorama of Shanghai by Guo Chan (果禅). The panorama illustrates the Bund from across the Huangpu River. The port is busy with French, British, and American ships - dating this map to the pre-war period c. 1930. Single and bi-wing planes fill the dramatically shaded skies. The view is centered on the Sassoon Mansion, with its distinctly pyramidal roof, which housed the Cathay Hotel, now the Fairmont Peace Hotel. (more details)
