This is a promotional map issued for the McCormick Schilling Spice company. The map covers the entire world on a double-hemisphere projection. A wealth of information is offered through ranging from the locations where various spices in the McCormick portfolio are source, to the routes of important explorers and purely decorative elements. Surrounding the map are illustrations of spice harvesting, patriotic imagery, and promotional depictions of McCormick Schilling offices. The map is further surrounded by flag illustrations from various spice producing countries around the world.

McCormick issued numerous 'spice maps' in various sizes and formats, this perhaps being the largest and most decorative. This map was issued over a number of years. The present example is dated to 1955 appears to be the first edition. The OCLC identifies an example as late at 1971 and Rumsey's example is copyrighted 1957.
