This is a rare example of the 1935 or Showa 10 panoramic view or map of the 1935 Yokohama exposition held in Yokohama, Japan. Featuring a beautifully colored birds-eye view style plan of the exposition grounds, identifying the pavilions of various regions including Tokyo, Hokkaido, Taiwan, Korea, Manchuria, and Brazil; political institutions such as the army and navy; and various industries including silk growers and the whale fisheries. The U.S. Consulate building is featured prominently at the front entrance. The exposition, held in Yamashita Park between March 26 and May 24 of 1935, celebrated the reconstruction of Yokohama following the 1923 Great Kanto earthquake. The rubble from the earthquake was collected over a period of four years and was used to reclaim Yamashita Park. Many ships can be seen sailing alongside whales in the water. All text is in Japanese. This is a beautiful folding view issued in 1935.
