This is a striking 1835 Heinrich Burghaus nautical map of the South China Sea, Malay Archipelago, Singapore, and the Gulf of Siam. Significantly, it is among the finest mappings of the now disputed Spratly Archipelago. It was issued for Berghaus' looseleaf Atlas von Asien, the best informed general cartographic work on Asia to appear in the mid-19th century. (more details)
