Lufft, Hans (sold)
Hans Lufft (1495–1584) was a German printer and publisher. He is best known for having printed the first complete edition of Luther's vernacular Bible, along with many of Luther’s other works. His name is also attached to the so-called Wittenberg 'Daniels Dream Map' which appeared both in Luther's pamphlets and in many editions of his Bible.

This is a bold, untrimmed strike of Hans Lufft's Wittenberg world map, also known the 'Daniel's Dream Map.' This woodcut illustrates the visions of the prophet Daniel, framed in a rudimentary map of Europe, Asia, and Africa. In Daniel's apocalyptic visions, the grim fates of the world's empires were revealed allegorically in the form of the beast depicted on the map. (more details)
